What sets us apart?

We are located in South Eastern Idaho and are happy to offer our services to students, professionals, and everyone else in between. At MusiCare we have over 100 years of combined experience repairing, maintaining, and modifying all types of musical instruments and musical electronics. During those years of experience, we have had the pleasure to work with many music educators and music students. Our mission is to provide music-related services and products of the highest possible quality and do so in a manner that is honest, ethical, profitable, and mutually beneficial to our customers. Please take a few minutes to view some examples of our work in our Gallery by clicking here. We work to make sure that you and your students can be successful in all of your creative efforts. We love being a part of enriching students and our communities through music.

At MusiCare music educators receive the benefit of the many years of experience and expertise of master craftsmen, as well as apprentices learning to carry on the trade so we can continue being there for you for many years to come! We have proven repair and cleaning techniques and are continually innovating to provide the best service to our customers. No two repairs are exactly the same and as such, we have valuable experience that helps us to provide you with the best service available. All of our repair services are done in-house, we do not outsource any of our work.

AT MUSICARE, WE DELIVER!

For “Summer Repair” we offer educators the opportunity to have their instrument inventory evaluated for repair needs. We also offer free pickup and delivery of that repair, when scheduled at the beginning of the summer.

We Support you!

One of our primary focuses is to serve and benefit the needs of music educators and their programs. Through our retail store and our musical instrument service center, we are able to take care of minor instrument repair problems as well as catastrophic repair needs. We are able to provide a full-service solution to music educators. MusiCare is proud to offer support to our music educators by keeping their district rental instruments in good working order. We are also able to keep track of the instruments we service by documenting their serial numbers and the work completed in our repair logs.

Take Care! Take Pride!™

We can also do this by providing you and your students with support through our responsibility-based maintenance program.

In 1989 we produced and released “Take Care! Take Pride!™  A Video Guide to Musical Instrument Care”. This is not an instrument repair video, but rather it is designed to educate students on how they can prevent problems with their instruments by teaching them proper handling techniques as well as effective cleaning and maintenance procedures. This means less hassle for the students, less hassle for you as the music educator, and more time for rehearsal! We have recently added an online quiz to test the student’s retention and the option to print out a completion certificate! To find out more about this resource click the link in the title of this section.

Our Responsibility Based Maintenance Program

We offer all of our customers a responsibility-based maintenance program. What does this mean? We will guarantee our repairs for one full school year so long as the student has proven they know how to properly care for and handle their musical instrument and do so. Any repairs needed due to negligence, not following a maintenance schedule, abuse, misuse, or issues caused by unqualified persons attempting a repair will not be covered in the guarantee. Those repairs will need to be inspected by our repair technician and any needed repairs will be the responsibility of the player.

Instrument Purchase Payment Options
(with option to return)

We do not offer Rental instruments here at MusiCare, why? Because we believe that Rent is the option to  quit. The best thing for a student is to be given the information they need to make a commitment. When a student has made that commitment and chosen an instrument and then makes a purchase and has ownership of their musical instrument they will be more likely to stick with it and continue on playing. They are also more likely to take care and have pride in their instrument. We have a great selection of used, refurbished instruments for beginners up to advancing intermediate and professional level instruments, you can see a list by clicking here.

We offer payment plans 10 months starting on the date of purchase. At the time of purchase there will be a 20% down payment and the balance will be paid over the next 10 months in 10 equal payments with NO INTEREST CHARGE! (As long as payments are on time.)

This agreement can be canceled at any time by returning the item(s) in the same condition that it was when purchased. At that point, all payments made toward the balance, including the down payment, will be considered rent, and the purchase agreement will be canceled and no further payments will be required; as long as the account is current at the time of return.

I was so incredibly impressed and charmed by this shop and its owners! Purchasing a new instrument here was not just a transaction. The owners truly care about what they do and want you to love your new instrument and be successful. They are definitely not just in it for the money. I don’t think they would have let us leave without feeling absolutely satisfied that we knew what we were doing when it comes to my son’s new oboe. Knowing that the oboe is finicky and not a super common choice, they spent extra time (basically a mini-lesson) teaching us both how to assemble the oboe, care for the reeds, clean the oboe, and they helped my son play his first notes. Getting a new instrument is such a special time, and they treated that moment the way it should be, enhanced it, even. Thank you so much for sharing your passion with us! It was our first time, but you’ve made us customers for life!

I had my Gibson Mastertone Banjo originally set up in Nashville but was never happy with the string height. While passing through Idaho falls I stopped by Musicare and Jim Sevy did a super professional job setting it up correctly. If you want to fall in love with your instrument again, take it Jim. Awesome work!!!

If I could give this business 6 stars I would. I bought my first professional instrument there. Since that day, I've always been welcome to drop by for an adjustment here and there. The owner is a fabulous man and an incredibly talented repairman. As long as I live in this area, I'll only go to MusiCare for my instrument's needs.

I’ve had every guitar I’ve owned set up by the guys at music care with the exception of one that I had to take to them to have reset up because the other guys did a horrible job! I’ve had amps worked on by them as well as select woodwind instruments of mine and they, without fail always exceed my expectations! There isn’t anything they can’t do! If you need anything done on any instrument, don’t waste your time with someone else! Take it to the guys at music care and get it done right the first time!

Jim is a great listener and understands exactly what the customer wants. He has worked on many of my guitars over the years and understands my need for high gain for extreme metal music. He has made sure that everything is wired and dialed to 11 to make my instruments into sonic flamethrowers! Thank you, Jim and MusiCare!!!

I can't say enough about this place! The owners are so friendly it makes me wish they were family. My daughter had her trombone cleaned and adjusted and 4 days later we brought it back because it got damaged at school. He remembered us and her instrument so he could tell precisely what was wrong with it. Very personable and knowledgeable. Go to MusiCare for all your musical needs.

Dave renovated my 51 year-old Leblanc "Duke" series tenor sax and then Dave repaired an issue with the case that had caused the problems with my sax. I had taken it to two other shops who worked on it for a combined three weeks and got nowhere. Could not be happier with the work and the way they treated me. Only place to go in Eastern Idaho

What a fantastic store! I bought a used clarinet for my daughter, and with the instrument came a couple hours of time from helping give instructions on proper assembly, and help picking out the right mouth piece.

I just love Muiscare. They do exceptional repair work and have great instruments and supplies for sale. I purchased an instrument from them a few years ago and it has been my pride and joy ever since. Probably the most impressive thing about Muiscare for me is that they seem to care just as much about me as they do about instruments, and that's something I really appreciate.

The following is my recommendation: Dave is not an instrument repair person – he is a MIRACLE worker ! ! He is not allowed to retire EVER ! I have to drive 4 hours to get to his shop, but no one local will touch my horns. His decades of experience in building and re-building instruments shows in his quality work. I have been able to be in the right places at the right times to acquire older, well used professional grade instruments at bargain prices (some even being free to me). With Dave’s advice and work restoring these instruments, I have had years of pleasure playing instruments others thought were too far gone to save. Not only is his work top notch, but his prices are extremely reasonable. If you are searching for someone to work on your music instrument, you could search the world and not find anyone more accomplished or with better rates than Dave Sevy at MusiCare.
